Scarab

Culture: Egyptian

The scarab is an ancient Egyptian symbol. It ‘s based on a dung beetle that is rolling a ball of dung (which they eat and use to feed their young.) The dung beetle reminded the ancient Egyptians of their creator God, Ra, rolling the sun across the sky each day.

Scarabs, which are often in the form of beetle amulets, symbolize:

  • Ra
  • The sun
  • Earth’s daily cycles
  • Rebirth
  • Regeneration
  • New beginnings
